Being raised in a polyglot family can be quite funny.
Whenever all members of my extended family came together to celebrate, we faced a little Babel: French-speaking Belgians meeting Croatian-speaking Germans, English-speaking Croats trying to converse with French-speaking Italians… hands and feet included.

At such occasions, the following sentence was often voiced – in all languages: "Ahm, Mia would you mind translating?". This can be either annoying or fun – I’ve always liked it and so my career aspirations came as no surprise…
